As the breeder behind Long Little Doggies, I am passionate and dedicated to maintaining Dachshunds as a strong breed so that they will be available for generations to come. I do this by working to improve my line with each and every planned litter by health testing and pairing for tempermant and confirmation.
About the Breeder
I’ve been a practicing Chiropractor for nearly 26 yrs working now in a multiple discipline medical facility. The rest of my life belongs to the dogs… no, but seriously…my kids (Doxies) are my life and I love them beyond words. If I’m not on my motorcycle with 1 or more of them riding behind me, then I’m out for hike with their leashes in my hands or sitting on my couch watching a movie with them allll in my lap.
How did I get into breeding?
I’ve had Doxie kids since 1993. I love the breed for their comical, loyal and intelligent personalities. I had always wanted to start my own breeding program, especially since losing my most beloved Doxie that I had had for over 17 years. Once I had found myself at a point in my life where I could invest the time and money required to be able to breed responsibly, I started the learning process. Many hours with my nose in books learning genetics, developing relationships with seasond breaders, talking and asking questions after questions and countless hours in chat rooms. There turned out to be way more to breeding than I had ever imagined,especially when breeding for the betterment of the breed. Its a lot of work and it can be tough, even to the extent of heart wrenching when letting my pups go to their new forever homes, but the smiles on my new extended families faces when they pick up their puppies for the first time, makes it allllll worth it. My deepest wish is that each and every new family have the relationship with their paw baby that I had with my Buddy…
What makes this breeding program special?
All the studying I’ve done, all the money I’ve spent and all the time I’ve invested in this has all been in preparation for producing genetically sound and happy well rounded or in this case, well elongated puppies. We will remain small because it’s more about the quality than quantity. I make sure all recommended tests are done before breeding my pairs to insure healthy matches. All proceeds go back into the program to insure the best of food, supplements, and medical care is given. We are dedicated to continuing our growth from pet to show quality.
